Caramel Drizzled Brownie Hearts

You will need:

  • 485g pkt Betty Crocker® Reduced Fat Brownie Mix
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • ½ cup water
  • 3/4 cup thickened cream
  • 40g butter
  • ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup pecans, toasted and chopped

Follow these basic steps

  1. Preheat oven for 10 minutes at 180°C/ 350°F (160°C fan-forced oven). Grease a 20x30cm lamington pan with oil or cooking spray. Line the base and sides with baking paper.
  2. Stir Brownie Mix, egg and water in a medium bowl until just combined. Do not use an electric mixer. Spread evenly in pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a skewer inserted near the centre comes out almost clean. Cool in pan for 15 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. With deep 7cm heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut 8 brownies.
  3. Meanwhile, make the caramel sauce by combining cream, butter and sugar in a saucepan. Stir over low heat until butter melts. Increase heat to medium and bring to the boil. Gently boil, stirring constantly, for 10 minutes or until sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat. Drizzle over brownie hearts and sprinkle with pecans.
